You get what you pay for? Not with the Gilmour Pruner!

   I have used the Gilmour Heavy Duty Hand Pruners here at the shop (about 2 acres) and around our home for some time now. I have been really pleasantly surprised to find how well they work, and to further realize how nice a value offering they are for our customers. Believe me, when you spend as much of your time as I do shopping for nice things, you get a feel for the good stuff and the good stuff is usually found at the higher end of the price spectrum – Not so with these pruners.

   First, let me tell you that even though I spend much of my week inside a supply house - when it comes to vines (cutting them, that is) I am an expert. I have spent the larger part of many days cutting Grape Vine, Wisteria, Roses, Kudzu, Bittersweet and much more. In the bush and tree species department, we're talking many piles - many truck loads, many years.

   I am a pretty big guy, so I can put a pair of pruners to the test. Imust admit that occasionally I do try to cut stuff that is really too big for the design of a hand pruner. I don't recommend doing this, although I find that when I am going for the larger and harder branches, that's where the better tools will show their stuff!

   I just finished such a full day session two weekends ago (the blisters to prove it have just healed - I recommend wearing gloves, but I never do). I was really pleased with the Gilmour Pruner. It did a great job - not one complaint! It has held its edge very well too. I have used lots of different brands and types of hand pruners, many that cost much more that this one, so I can say as an expert these are nice and truly Heavy Duty Hand Pruners. They are a great value at the offered price. So I'd have to say - in the case of the Gilmour Pruners, I think you're actually getting a lot more for your dollar than usual!
