Flood Safe by Watts - Ensure Piece of Mind for Your property
Water heaters can on occasion malfunction by overheating the water inside and creating super-pressurized hot water. To protect against this danger, water heaters come with a temperature and pressure safety relief valve. This valve is designed to release water from the tank when it becomes overheated, preventing excessive energy build up that can lead to a water heater explosion.
FloodSafe™ upon sensing the discharge from the temperature & pressure valve shuts off both the water and power supply to the water heater. This not only stops the flow of water, but provides additional protection from the continued heating and pressurization of the water heater to avert a potential disaster.
Watts Floodsafe™ Water Detector Shutoff - Cutting-Edge Design
The FloodSafe™ uses solid-state technology and is triggered by contact with as little as 1/16th inch of water on the floor beneath the heater. Its printed circuit water detector pad is vastly superior to electrical contacts that can rust or corrode, rendering them ineffective.
The FloodSafe™ Water Detector Shutoff is re-settable; allowing it to be tested at any time to ensure proper operation.
Why Watts Floodsafe™ - About Water Damage
Protect Your Home and Investment from Catastrophic Water Damage
When a leak occurs, water will start as a drip and eventually flows out in a constant stream. Water pressure supplied to the water heater is usually between 30 and 80psi. Flooding can occur quickly if a leak is not detected. Water damage can be significant for a home or business and can lead to long-term problems including mold, corrosion and structural property damage.
Added Protection Against Water Damage
In addition, all water heaters are equipped with a temperature and pressure safety relief valve. This valve is designed to discharge water from the water heater to prevent a dangerous or explosive condition. If this should occur, shutting off only the water supply could result in a dangerous or potentially explosive condition. The FloodSafe’s ability to shut off both the supply of water and energy to the water heater prevents this danger.
The Result Watts Flood Safe
Homeowners and businesses need to protect themselves. In recent years insurance companies have become less willing to cover certain types of flood damage. The need for the protection provided by the FloodSafe™ Water Detector Shutoff is more essential than ever.
